Hello! My name is Frances, owner and founder of Shining Stars Tutoring, qualified primary school teacher and tutor from Staffordshire.

I set up Shining Stars Tutoring and Home Education because I am passionate about making learning enjoyable and achievable for all children. I want to make a difference, build their confidence and help them to succeed.

Lessons are available with our handpicked, outstanding qualified primary and secondary teachers.

Lessons are available for: 

Primary age 3 EYFS reception, age 5-7 KS1 year 1 and 2, age 8-11 KS2 year 3, 4, 5 and 6. 

Secondary age 11-14 KS3 year 7, 8 and 9, GCSE age 14-16 KS4 year 10 and 11, AS and A level age 16-18 KS5 year 12 and 13

7+, 8+, 10+ 11+ entrance exams, functional skills tests.

Subjects: English, Maths, Science, Spanish, English as an additional language (EAL) for children and adults. We also cover careers, life skills and starting a business.

What are lessons like?

 Register- When you register you'll be sent a welcome email with a link to our fantastic student portal. On there you'll find your calendar with link that takes you straight to your lesson on Zoom, homework/resources and invoices.  

 Matched with a tutor- You'll be matched with a suitable tutor and booked in for an assessment/trial session. These are 30 minutes long and free of charge.Click here to see our tutor profiles.

 First lesson- Once your first lesson is over, your tutor will send lesson notes detailing subjects covered and how your learner got on. They will also suggest topics to work on in future lessons. 

 Book your lessons- We'll be in touch to book you in for future lessons. 

 Welcome pack- You'll then receive a welcome pack in the post, this includes a white board, pen, rubber and some other goodies. These are useful during lessons, to make notes and show your tutor.

Reward points- During lessons, students will earn 'Dojo' points (optional). For every 20 points they get a certificate (uploaded to their student portal) and for every 100 points they get a prize!

Literacy Including: phonics, reading, writing, spelling and grammar, listening, speaking and handwriting.	Maths Addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, shape, measures, fractions, decimals, minus numbers, time and more...	History, geography and sciences Geography, history and science lessons are for KS1 and KS2. These are an exciting addition to your weekly lessons, where we learn more about the world.
English as a foreign language For those who want to learn English as an additional language. For adults and children.	Entrance exams and functional skills Tuition in maths and English is available for those sitting 11+ entrance exams, or functional skills tests	Careers and life skills For all ages including adults. These lessons are based around CV writing, interview technique, enterprise, public speaking and presenting.
Art, design, textiles, photography Lessons are tailored to the skills you'd like to learn. Creative tutors have industry experience.	French and Spanish Lessons are available for KS1 and KS2.   If you'd like to learn the French or Spanish language, or brush up your skills lessons can be tailored to suit.	Home education We offer sessions to home educating families. Either 1:1 or in groups. All subjects are available to home educating families.
