A little about myslef.

Throughout my time as a primary school teacher, I discovered that the most rewarding part of my role was supporting the children who found learning the most challenging. Helping them work towards and achieve their personal goals was what truly inspired me.

When both of my own children were diagnosed with dyslexia, my understanding deepened on both a professional and personal level. I spent five years researching and applying strategies to support them, learning first-hand how the right approach can transform not only academic progress but also confidence and self-belief. This journey led me to train as a specialist dyslexia teacher.

My ethos is simple: learning should be practical, engaging and, above all, meaningful. It is essential that skills are fully embedded before moving forward — if the foundations are not secure, the next layers will struggle to hold. Every child learns differently, and I am passionate about identifying and tailoring teaching approaches to suit each individual’s unique learning style and specific areas of difficulty.

In a busy classroom, it is not always possible to provide the level of personalised support some children need. With targeted intervention and specialist guidance, children can build strong foundations, grow in confidence, and reach their full potential.

From my experience both as a teacher and a parent, I know how vital it is for children to believe in their own ability. With the right support, encouragement and strategies, every child can shine.

Individualised Planned Sessions

Each session is carefully planned around the individual child, ensuring that learning is purposeful, personalised and achievable. I begin by identifying strengths as well as specific areas of need, using this understanding to create tailored lessons that build confidence alongside skills. Clear, realistic goals are set collaboratively, allowing children to experience success while steadily moving forward in their learning journey. These goals are broken down into manageable steps so progress feels attainable rather than overwhelming. By regularly reviewing and adapting plans to reflect each child’s development, I ensure that every session remains responsive, supportive and focused on meaningful, measurable progress.

Warm and Welcoming Environment

I believe that children learn best when they feel safe, valued and understood, which is why I place great importance on creating a warm and welcoming environment. From the very first session, I aim to build trust and positive relationships so that each child feels comfortable to have a go, ask questions and take risks in their learning. Mistakes are seen as an essential part of the process — not something to fear, but opportunities to grow. Through encouragement, patience and reassurance, I help children understand that learning often happens through trial and error, and that it is perfectly okay to get things wrong along the way. When children feel secure and supported, their confidence flourishes and they become much more willing to challenge themselves and embrace new learning.I believe that children learn best when they feel safe, valued and understood, which is why I place great importance on creating a warm and welcoming environment. Effective Strategies to help within the classroom

Having spent many years in the classroom, I understand how important it is that the skills and knowledge developed in tutoring sessions transfer confidently back into the school environment. I place strong emphasis on helping children recognise how what we practise together links directly to their classroom learning. By making these connections explicit, children are better able to apply strategies independently, reinforcing both their understanding and their confidence. When they begin to see their achievements in school as a direct result of the work we do together, it strengthens their self-belief and creates a powerful sense of continuity between tutoring and classroom success.Having spent many years in the classroom, I understand how important it is that the skills and knowledge developed in tutoring sessions transfer confidently back into the school environment. Every Child Can Shine

I truly believe that with the right strategies, the right approach, and the time and support each child deserves, every child can shine. Progress looks different for every learner, but with patience, understanding and carefully tailored guidance, each child is capable of achieving success. Just as importantly, they have the right to feel that success — to recognise their own strengths, to experience pride in their achievements, and to develop the confidence that comes from knowing they can succeed. My goal is not only to help children make progress, but to help them truly believe in their ability to do so.
