Each session is carefully tailored to your child, focusing on their strengths while gently supporting areas they find more challenging. I set clear, achievable goals and break learning into small, manageable steps so children can experience success, build confidence and make steady progress. Sessions are regularly reviewed and adapted so support always reflects your child’s needs.
During my time as a primary school teacher, I found the most rewarding part of my role was helping children who found learning difficult. When both of my own children were diagnosed with dyslexia, my understanding deepened both professionally and personally. After five years researching and applying strategies to support them, I trained as a specialist dyslexia teacher.
My approach is simple: learning should be practical, engaging and meaningful. By providing personalised support and building strong foundations, I help children grow in confidence and develop the skills they need to thrive.
I believe children learn best when they feel safe, valued and understood. From the very first session, I focus on building a warm, trusting relationship so your child feels comfortable asking questions, trying new things and giving learning a go. Mistakes are seen as a natural part of learning, and with patience, encouragement and reassurance, children begin to grow in confidence. When children feel supported, they are far more willing to challenge themselves and enjoy learning again.
With many years of classroom experience, I understand how important it is that tutoring supports your child’s learning at school. I help children make clear links between what we practise together and what they are learning in the classroom, so they can use new skills with confidence. As they begin to see progress in school, their confidence grows and they start to believe in their own abilities.
I truly believe that with the right strategies, the right approach, and the time and support each child deserves, every child can shine. Progress looks different for every learner, but with patience, understanding and carefully tailored guidance, each child is capable of achieving success. Just as importantly, they have the right to feel that success — to recognise their own strengths, to experience pride in their achievements, and to develop the confidence that comes from knowing they can succeed. My goal is not only to help children make progress, but to help them truly believe in their ability to do so.
EVERY CHILD CAN SHINE!
I offer tutoring across all primary curriculum subject areas, with a particular specialism in supporting children with dyslexia. My sessions are carefully tailored to meet each child’s individual learning needs, whether they require support in reading, writing, spelling, maths or wider curriculum areas. Using specialist dyslexia strategies alongside practical, engaging teaching approaches, I ensure that learning is structured, supportive and accessible. This combination of broad curriculum knowledge and focused expertise allows me to provide well-rounded support while addressing specific barriers to learning with confidence and care.

Throughout my time as a primary school teacher, I discovered that the most rewarding part of my role was supporting the children who found learning the most challenging. Helping them work towards and achieve their personal goals was what truly inspired me.
When both of my own children were diagnosed with dyslexia, my understanding deepened on both a professional and personal level. I spent five years researching and applying strategies to support them, learning first-hand how the right approach can transform not only academic progress but also confidence and self-belief. This journey led me to train as a specialist dyslexia teacher.
My ethos is simple: learning should be practical, engaging and, above all, meaningful. It is essential that skills are fully embedded before moving forward — if the foundations are not secure, the next layers will struggle to hold. Every child learns differently, and I am passionate about identifying and tailoring teaching approaches to suit each individual’s unique learning style and specific areas of difficulty.
In a busy classroom, it is not always possible to provide the level of personalised support some children need. With targeted intervention and specialist guidance, children can build strong foundations, grow in confidence, and reach their full potential.
From my experience both as a teacher and a parent, I know how vital it is for children to believe in their own ability. With the right support, encouragement and strategies, every child can shine.
